About Us
Hive and Homestead is owned by husband and wife team, Tim and Harvest. We are dedicated to beekeeping and sustainable living, and have created this company to share these passions with others.
We are both Certified Beekeepers through the Master Beekeeper Program at The Young Harris College and University of Georgia Beekeeping Institute. We have been keeping bees since 2012, and spend most of our free time reading about bees, attending beekeeping conferences, visiting our bee yard (apiary), and learning everything we can about these fascinating creatures. We have both been on the Board of Directors of our local beekeeping club, and enjoy helping new beekeepers get started in this wonderful hobby. Harvest is also the former web designer for the state bee club Georgia Beekeepers Association. We use all natural pest management systems in our beehives.
All of our products are handmade. Our honey and bee products come from our own hives which are located in Dahlonega, Georgia in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. Our wooden gifts are hand-turned and our metal gifts are hand-forged on our property. All of our body products are also handmade at our home.
We have dedicated our lives to Homesteading, which is a lifestyle of self-sufficiency. The philosophy of homesteading includes gardening, food preservation, and making and using natural products. So all of the soaps, lip balms, lotion bars, etc that we sell, are also used by us on a daily basis.
